Faith over Fear
Oh taste and see that the Lord is good , blessed is he who takes refuge in Him - Psalms 34:8
There is a miracle fruit which is also know as Synsepalum dulcificum ! When someone has this fruit their tastebuds are temporarily rewired and anything that is had in the next few hours tastes sweet .The secret to the fruit’s taste-transforming power is in a protein called miraculin. You can have anything that’s sour, pungent or spicy but since your taste buds are re-wired everything that you eat will taste sweet.
Each of us go through life’s storms in some form or the other . Some bitter experiences , hurts , betrayals , health issues or challenges of some sort . And those of us who have experienced God's love and saving grace can confidently proclaim like the psalmist David , 'Oh taste and see that the Lord is good' . So the Miracle fruit temporarily rewires our taste buds but our knowing God and our walk with Him can forever rewire our faith and trust in Him.
A good friend of mine was in a big limbo - her house lease was up for renewal and she wanted to move out to a slightly bigger place but the question was “whether to shift in the midst of this covid scenario or postpone it to next year"? . However the decision was taken in favour of moving out and the advance payment made . Once the decision to shift was taken, the next most difficult phase was the questions by friends and relatives . They started to sow fear into her mind and how this step probably would end up putting the family and kids in a spot by exposing them to the virus .
It's like when the rubber meets the road , her faith got tested really hard in the weeks that ensued . She would call me and speak of her fears , worries and concerns . Her fears were very real and true . They had people walk into their home, they had to step out several times in lieu with the move, the packers and movers would be coming . May be someone would be a carrier of the virus!!!.Every thing in the house big and small would be touched by them and sanitising them all would be next to impossible. Wow , there was a situation at hand . We did what we could do best in such a situation , we prayed together . She slowly started to lean on God and not on her understanding or the situation at hand .
It’s exactly two weeks now that they have shifted to their new house and what she told me made me realise that she has stepped up to a new level in her faith in God. She said the following Bible verses was never as real and meaningful to her:
“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.” Psalms 127:1 NIV
Well all that I could feel was joy in knowing that her faith had got tested and she did well. She knew that her fears were valid but her trusting God in everything , was all that was needed .
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”[Hebrews 11:1]
So faith is taking the first step , even when we don’t see the whole staircase . We might be on the first step of this stairway of faith , we might trip , we might fall, we may take two steps backward , but what's important is to rise up , retrace your steps back into that stairway of faith .
For we all must die one day, thats inevitable but why die each day in our fears when we have a choice to trust God and live each day to its fullest knowing that He has got us covered. For we walk by faith and not by sight [2 Corinthians 5:7].
Hey....mini π
ReplyDeleteI also believe this completely π
ππ , Amen
DeleteOh this was awesome! Thank you so much Mini for sharing this, and for reaching that depth with your friend, to understand the heart of God with her, concerning to move or not to move.
ReplyDeleteAnd holding her hand in prayer to get her on the other side, to victory.
This taught me so much;
•Believing and agreeing in Faith with another.
•Holding on against the fiery darts of fear and worry, and reason, even.
•The peace that God gives from the place of intimacy.
God bless you Mini. π
Thank you and may God bless you too beyond measure
DeleteHallelujah!!! We walk by faith not by sight.
