Flying saucers and flying chicken 🤣

New to Delhi, we were put up in company accommodation for few weeks . The fine dining options were extremely good at all the three restaurants which served authentic Indian , American & Chinese cuisines.

One afternoon , I decided to dine at the American restaurant where I ordered steaks with few sides . When the food arrived it looked super good and I could not wait to get my first bite . Taking the fork and knife I cut into the chicken and before I knew it the chicken flew off the plate and landed a few meters away . To my good luck it did not land on anyone or on anyone else’s table . 

The restaurant was packed that day and all heads started to turn in my direction. I was about to get up and leave as I was caught up in an embarrassing moment. Just as I got up, I saw the Restaurant manager walk in my direction . Before I could say anything he folded his hands saying “ Mam my sincere apologies, we have had many cases of flying chicken ! Please do allow us to get you a new portion “ !

My reasoning with him fell on deaf ears and even me offering to pay for the new meal was also unacceptable to them . Within 10 mins the restaurant manager returned back with a delectable portion of sizzling steaks.

If I had to rate the service it would be 20 on a scale of 10 😁. The experience , service and meal super exceeded my expectations . The fiasco was so well handled and they made it look like the problem was with the chicken and not the customer .

What a life lesson that person taught me  . Handling mistakes done by others in a graceful way can not only build the other person but evoke such respect towards the forgiver . 

Graciousness, magnanimity, giving the benefit of doubt, being non judgemental, giving a second chance can come a long way in instilling confidence and dignity in others ! 

Forgiveness and kindness go hand in hand . If we were to emulate these values then we would be in a world where there would be less of hatred , less of violence , less of road rage , less of divisions in family , better understanding between spouses,  between parents and children , no gender bias, no outlaws and in laws. But just Faith , Hope & Love in one another !!

    A reality in life.
    Never find a mistake, find s.way to handle the error without embarasing anyone.
    Easy to scoff n make s face,very difficult to put a smile on the faultaring person

I AM NEW

I was in a bit of a hurry when I went to the local supermarket last week. The lady who was supposed to help me with packing the condiments & dips seemed to be from another planet . She looked lost , confused and irritable. I did not have much time to be able to deal with her mood swings.  However something caught my eye. There was a badge this lady was adorning which said “ I am new here". Well that explained it all !!! She was not able to understand things well and might still been trying to navigate her way through.  Suddenly my perspective changed and there was a paradigm shift.  I became more patient and kind towards her in my approach. I bought the things on the list and left the place wishing her all best in her new role ✨!!  I then thought to myself- wish I had a badge on me which would read  “ a sinner , saved by grace alone”, or “ bear with me as I am not perfect “, or “ extend me grace when I fall ” or “ forgive me, I do make mistakes”  May be if I had them on, thing

What’s your trigger

  When our little dachshund Coffee, was tiny and when we all had to step out , we had to keep her closed in the kitchen . The kitchen has three doors , so it was a bit of challenge to keep her in and have the doors  closed as she would dash out from the other. So we had to strategically close two doors and leave her in and shut the door on her. This was done only for three months period as we then had a help who became available full time. It is now four years and Coffee is also four + , but whenever a door is shut, specially the kitchen door she panics and gets fearful with the thought of being closed up again !! Most of us also get triggered when we are reminded of an event or situation in the past and we feel overwhelmed and fear takes over . It probably may be something we went through as a child or even in our growing up years or even as an adult .  Are we then called to be in that place of fear and anxiety and not move ahead in life ?
