Trick or Treat - Light or Darkness

Why do we compromise and choose things in our lives that gives us temporary happiness ?In doing so is our life in eternity in jeopardy ? It’s a question we all need to ask ourselves.

Sometimes we feel that it’s ok to do things as everybody in the crowd is doing so , hence must not be harmful at all! How come so many of us educated people blindly follow rituals and festivals but don’t look into the significance of it and why its been practised in a certain way ? 

While in India , our community indulged in observing halloween every year and with even much gusto and enthusiasm every following year . Kids and adults looking spooky, gory and scary , going from home to home chanting “ trick or treat “ !!! Trick means if the family would want to be tricked or if they rather would give a treat instead in the form of candies or chocolates . This all looks harmless and super fun. 

Here in the Middle East too many communities follow this with much pride and enthusiasm and I believe that the community we are currently in celebrates it in the highest order. 

However, halloween to me, is something that resonates well with darkness and the devil . After all people get dressed like him and his legions. 
Even  giving treats to kids at your doorstep is being a silent party to it 

Children of God have nothing to do with darkness . Darkness has to flee when LIGHT comes in . 

👉We are children of light in the Lord and meant to live in a certain way. . Live as children of light filled with goodness, righteousness and truth. Do what  pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. Everything that is illuminated becomes light and visible[ references from Ephesians 5:8-13] 

👉“We are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.” [1 Thessalonians 5:5 ]

👉What do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? 
[2 Corinthians 6:14-15 ]

Do not be tricked by the enemy and partner with darkness . Refrain from rituals and festivals like halloween . If you do then the heavenly TREATS may be less attainable .  

LET YOUR INNER LIGHT AND LOVE PERMEATE AND BRING LIGHT INTO THIS WORLD AND INTO THE LIVES OF OTHER 

BE THE LIGHT

Couple of my watches required battery replacement …. but oufff the price in this region to change the battery can be more expensive than buying a new watch 🫠 However we figured out the place where we could get original batteries at half price and with a guarantee for 2 years .. woooo that was amazing .  The watch repairer was a very unassuming person who took his tools and carefully opened the side of the watch where the battery had to be replaced.  And boy the insides of the watch looked so amazing … intricately done and it needed someone with precision and understanding to get the watch working again . The wrong pin 🙃

All excited for our ladies day out , I headed to meet my friend for a time of fun and gastronomic treats . I followed the location pin she shared with me and once I heard “ you have arrived, your destination is to your right "  very expectantly I stepped out but to my utter disappointment could not locate the building where my friend lived. I argued with the security that the building should be somewhere around and that he might not be aware 🫢.  However when I called my friend she agreed to have made the mistake of sending me the location pin of her office instead of the residence pin 📌 🙆‍♀️. Humbled and apologising to the security I now had to reroute and drive to the right address being behind our schedule by 45 mins .   Putting things into perspective and applying this into life , how often do we blindly follow people , ideas , religion, and end up in places and situations that we least expect.   How is it we are so blind to the fact that there is only one TRUT...

2 Corinthians   2:15   One Sunday morning on one of my metro rides in Delhi , I got super impressed when I saw a young gentleman(non Indian) carrying a big Bible with him . During our very short conversation he told me that he is new in Delhi and still figuring out a church to go to . I was happy to help and decided to give him my number when he asked me for the same.   However this was a bad decision. Despite him knowing that I have a family he started   to bother me with unwanted calls . It was getting too much that my husband had to intervene. He was upset that I trusted a stranger with my number. However I got easily misled by the big Bible that he was carrying and thought he would be a fine gentleman! Must say this incident left me to be more wiser and discerning. Carrying a Bible does not mean that we carry Christ like qualities in us . Christ like qualities translate into actions .
