Fear you don’t own me

‘Fear you don’t own me , there is no room in this story’ is an interesting song that we came across on one of the FM Radios . 

How the singer decides not to cave in to loneliness and fear of the future after her breakup but rather chose to rise above the situation.  

Why are we fearful ? What are we fearful of ?

Words could not explain the excitement of getting my driving license in UAE. However the very next day at a moms coffee morning all the conversations were about accidents that took place in Dubai and specially someone who just survived a horrible crash that happened on Sheikh Zayed road . Boy, I just closed my ears and walked out of the coffee shop . That conversation definitely was not meant for my ears and I had to erase every negative thoughts and fear that came my way. I had to trust and say ‘ The Lord is my refuge , and no harm will over take me , for He will command His angels concerning me to guard me in all my ways ‘ [ psalm 91:9-11]. If this is promise I have , I will not fear . 

Are we a people pleaser and are we fearful of being judged by people?

The expectations to have a well disciplined son really weighed high on my shoulders even before our son turned 2. As much as it is important to teach a child what is right and bring him up in the ways of the Lord , an overdose of disciplining can be harmful too . Whilst I was huffing and puffing for everything and so confused as a mother, a timely message I heard got me to think and got me on the right track.

The message went like this , “ When you know who you are , and whose you belong , then you know whom you are trying to please “ ! [ this means when you find your identity in Christ ] That was definitely a big eye opener . I stopped fearing people and their judgements and how incapable I was as a mom . I started praying for the wisdom and patience to bring up our son not only with correction but also pouring out my love on him. 

If you are in the right and have to speak for yourself , then be open and voice your opinion . Do not be a silent participator or spectator  when you see wrong being done. We at times fear that we may be excluded from a group or by our friends when we stand up for the truth . Refer back to the Bible each time you are in doubt. It has guidelines for each one of us . And let  your YES be an YES and you’re NO be a NO [ Mathew 5:37]. Don’t be fearful of the outcome when you are in the right.

For when I die and when I am in front of the Judgement Throne , all the people that I tried to please and was fearful of [once upon a time] will not be with me. I will be all by myself . 

Fear of the future, fear of losing , fear of heights , fear of water , fear of rejection and for the endless list , only one assurance - God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind - 2 Timothy 1:7

You can have two choices when you are faced with fear . 
F- Flee
E- Escape
A- Alarmed 
R- Run away or reel under pressure

Or 

F- Find peace through prayer 
E- Encouragement through promises in the Bible 
A- Awaken your faith  
R- Rise up from every fear ,cause your Redeemer lives and you are FREE in HIM.

Couple of my watches required battery replacement …. but oufff the price in this region to change the battery can be more expensive than buying a new watch 🫠 However we figured out the place where we could get original batteries at half price and with a guarantee for 2 years .. woooo that was amazing .  The watch repairer was a very unassuming person who took his tools and carefully opened the side of the watch where the battery had to be replaced.  And boy the insides of the watch looked so amazing … intricately done and it needed someone with precision and understanding to get the watch working again . The wrong pin 🙃

All excited for our ladies day out , I headed to meet my friend for a time of fun and gastronomic treats . I followed the location pin she shared with me and once I heard “ you have arrived, your destination is to your right "  very expectantly I stepped out but to my utter disappointment could not locate the building where my friend lived. I argued with the security that the building should be somewhere around and that he might not be aware 🫢.  However when I called my friend she agreed to have made the mistake of sending me the location pin of her office instead of the residence pin 📌 🙆‍♀️. Humbled and apologising to the security I now had to reroute and drive to the right address being behind our schedule by 45 mins .   Putting things into perspective and applying this into life , how often do we blindly follow people , ideas , religion, and end up in places and situations that we least expect.   How is it we are so blind to the fact that there is only one TRUT...

2 Corinthians   2:15   One Sunday morning on one of my metro rides in Delhi , I got super impressed when I saw a young gentleman(non Indian) carrying a big Bible with him . During our very short conversation he told me that he is new in Delhi and still figuring out a church to go to . I was happy to help and decided to give him my number when he asked me for the same.   However this was a bad decision. Despite him knowing that I have a family he started   to bother me with unwanted calls . It was getting too much that my husband had to intervene. He was upset that I trusted a stranger with my number. However I got easily misled by the big Bible that he was carrying and thought he would be a fine gentleman! Must say this incident left me to be more wiser and discerning. Carrying a Bible does not mean that we carry Christ like qualities in us . Christ like qualities translate into actions .
