Jehovah Rapha-Our God who heals
In January 2017 we decided to visit Udaipur an exotic location in Rajasthan,India. My husband’s only condition was that we should drive down though the journey threatened to be a long one.
0530 am sharp in the car, belted up , we started with the drive. I was the standby Co-pilot and also in charge of inflight service[food, entertainment etc] . The roads were superb, the drive spectacular so we did not stop for a break and captain applied breaks only once we reached our destination. After nine hours of non stop drive , once I got off the car I felt my knees and legs were swollen and hurting. The trip was really lovely but the nagging pain in the knees and legs kept troubling me .
After we got back home the pain worsened and I could barely walk for two weeks.Post my check up, we got to know that I was developing arthritis. There was wear and tear to my cartilage and on my right knee there was one part where the bone was slightly caving in . This explained why my knees swelled up if I stood for a long time and also why it ached after I drove for long distances .
That same year we moved countries and it was one of the most challenging times. Unlike India where we were spoilt with support and domestic help I struggled with the settling in as the pain in my knees was very acute .
I was advised to go in for Ayurvedic treatment which only gave me some bit of respite. I prayed for healing as with every passing day the pain was getting worse. I requested for prayers and also got prayed over by my friends from church . God was really gracious and in due course I received my healing .
But due to family pressures I underwent the Ayurvedic treatment for the second time and it ended up in a total disaster. From a state of healing that I had received I went into a state of excruciating pain post the treatment.
Jesus had healed many people while on earth and it would have been absurd for the lame person whom Jesus healed(John5:8)to go get treated again. Or how would it be if the women with the issue of blood who also got her healing(Luke8:43-48)go back for another treatment?
That reality got me thinking and I regretted what I did. I pleaded with God to forgive me and I started to reclaim my healing . And yes our God is faithful -He is our Jehovah Rapha - Our God who heals !
“ Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.””Mark 11:24-25.
